⚖️ Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia vs FTC, and DOJ!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are both going to investigate Microsoft, OpenAI, and Nvidia for potential antitrust issues.

And you know what? It shouldn't come as a surprise!

Earlier this year, the FTC opened an inquiry into Microsoft, Amazon, and Google's investments in OpenAI and Anthropic.

They were also investigating OpenAI’s data collection practices to know whether the company had caused potential harm and spread false information about individuals.

Only Nvidia was not part of antitrust talks in the US!

But now, the DOJ will lead inquiries into Nvidia, while the FTC will handle OpenAI and its largest investor, Microsoft.

However, let's not jump to conclusions – these investigations don't mean they’re filing cases against the companies just yet.

But we can't forget that a similar situation in 2019 led to the government’s cases against Google, Apple, Amazon, and Meta.

Who knows if history will repeat itself this time?🤷‍♀️

🔓 Unlock Anonymous Access to popular AI chatbots!

DuckDuckGo just launched "Privacy AI Chats," a feature that gives you anonymous access to AI models like GPT-3.5 Turbo, Claude 3 Haiku, Meta’s Llama 3 70B model, etc.

It also won't store your chats, which saves you from having to go to the settings menu just to opt-out.

And the companies behind each AI model cannot use data from your chats for training!

Sounds too good to be true? Well, here’s how DuckDuckGo says it works:

They make it look like the requests are coming from them and not you by replacing your IP address with theirs.

And according to DuckDuckGo’s privacy policy page, it removes all metadata containing your personal information before sending your query.

That’s not all!

Although the AI providers “may store chats temporarily,” they can’t trace them back to you.

And agreements have been reached with the AI providers to delete saved chats within 30 days and prevent them from being used to train their models.

But if you’d prefer to be extra sure, you can use a fire button similar to what DuckDuckGo has in its browser to clear all your chats yourself.

For now, the feature is free to use but within a daily limit!

However, DuckDuckGo says it may eventually launch a paid plan with higher limits and access to more advanced models.
