Google’s AI just got a major upgrade!
Plus, YouTube brings AI-generated video clips to shorts.

Hello and welcome to the Automated, your AI tour guide.
Every day in the tech world—especially in AI—there’s something new, either a breakthrough, an innovation, or a smarter way to do things. And it never gets old.
Today, Google is making Gemini AI even more personal and effective, and YouTube has something fresh in store too. Let’s dive in!
Here’s what we have for you today:
🤯 Gemini AI Now Remembers Your Chats.

Google’s Gemini AI just got a memory upgrade—and this time, it’ll actually remember what you told it.
That means no more repeating yourself like a broken record or scrolling through endless old chats to find that one crucial detail.
Now, Gemini can recall past conversations, summarize them, reference them, and even pick up right where you left off.
And get this: the new feature is rolling out first to English-speaking Gemini Advanced subscribers via Google One AI Premium Plan ($20/month) and is designed to make interactions feel more natural and personal.
Instead of starting from scratch every time, Gemini remembers things you’ve mentioned before—kind of like a friend who actually listens (a rare find these days).
Of course, not everyone loves the idea of an AI storing their conversations, so Google is giving users full control.
You can review, delete, or limit how long Gemini keeps your chat history. And if the whole idea still makes you uneasy, you can turn it off entirely in the “My Activity” settings.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering—Google assures users that chats won’t be used to train AI models, so no need to worry about fueling the next AI revolution with your late-night ramblings.
This push for better memory isn’t just Google’s idea—OpenAI’s Sam Altman has said improved recall is one of ChatGPT’s most requested features.
Both Google and OpenAI have been working on ways to make their AI assistants better at remembering, though, until now, chatbots haven’t exactly been known for their long-term memory.
In short, AI chatbots are finally learning to keep up with us. Who knows? Maybe one day, they’ll even remember your coffee order without being asked.
Go look it up for more info.
🎬 YouTube Brings AI-Generated Video Clips to Shorts.

YouTube is making it even easier for creators to spice up their Shorts with AI-generated video clips!
The platform has announced a major upgrade to its experimental Dream Screen feature, now powered by Google’s Veo 2 video model.
With this update, creators can generate standalone AI video clips—not just backgrounds—and add them directly to their Shorts, opening up a whole new world of creative possibilities.
Dream Screen first launched in September 2023, letting users create AI-generated backgrounds for Shorts using text prompts.
But now, it’s taking things to the next level.
Instead of just green screen effects, creators can generate full video clips that can be seamlessly integrated into their content.
Using the new feature is simple: just open the Shorts camera, head to the media picker, and tap “Create” at the top.
From there, you can type in a description of what you want, tweak styles, cinematic effects, and even control video length.
Whether it’s a futuristic cityscape, an animated explosion, or something totally surreal, the AI will generate it on the spot. That’s just mind-blowing.

The rollout starts today for users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with YouTube promising wider availability soon.
Interestingly, this upgrade comes while Google’s latest Veo model is still in early access and only available via a waitlist.
However, by integrating Veo 2 into Dream Screen, YouTube says it can now generate video clips faster and with more realistic physics and human movement.
And for those worried about AI-generated content blending too seamlessly with real footage, YouTube is addressing transparency concerns.
Every AI-created clip will come tagged with both visible labels and Google’s invisible SynthID watermark, ensuring viewers can distinguish between what’s real and what’s machine-made.
Dream Screen’s upgrade unlocks new AI-powered creativity for Shorts. With Veo 2, expect even more innovations ahead!
