šŸ—£ļø OpenAI's voice cloning technology!

OpenAI has developed an incredible text-to-voice generation platform called Voice Engine!

It can create synthetic voices with just a 15-second sample clip of someone's voice and read out text prompts on command in the same language as the speaker or in a number of other languages.

OpenAI already uses the tool to power the ChatGPT Read Aloud feature and the preset voices for the text-to-speech API.

But now, theyā€™re offering limited access to it and education technology companies like Age of Learning, HeyGen, Dimagi, and others are among the select few already trying it out.

Age of Learning, for instance, is already using the tool to generate pre-scripted voice-over content, and it delivers personalized responses to students, all powered by GPT-4.

Sadly, most of us wonā€™t be getting our hands on this technology anytime soon, as OpenAI has chosen to limit access to about 10 developers, but thatā€™s probably the right move!

Remember President Biden's AI-cloned voice incident? Thatā€™s exactly the kind of thing theyā€™re trying to prevent.

They've also implemented usage policies for the tool and added watermarks to audio clips to trace their origin and actively monitor how the audio is used.

šŸ†• X.ai Unveils a New Generative AI Model!

Elon Musk's AI startup, X.ai, just announced its latest creation: Grok-1.5, a new generative AI model that will seriously upgrade X's chatbot Grok!

Hereā€™s what to expect:

This new model has better reasoning skills than its predecessor, Grok-1, especially in coding and math tasks.

It more than doubled Grok-1ā€™s score on a popular mathematics benchmark, MATH, and scored over 10 percentage points higher on the HumanEval test of programming language generation and problem-solving abilities. (see for yourself here)

But hey, let's not get too caught up in the numbers game; benchmarks don't always mirror real-world performance.

Another notable upgrade is its expanded context processing capability of up to 128,000 tokens. This means it can remember past conversations and handle longer and more complex prompts, leading to better understanding and responses.

Weā€™re not sure if the new model will continue Grokā€™s rebellious streak, which is the ability to answer questions about topics that other AI models usually avoid, like conspiracies or more controversial political ideas, and in outright rude language if requested, but we're crossing our fingers! šŸ˜‰

Early testers on X will get to play with Grok-1.5 in the coming days, along with some neat new features like thread summaries and content suggestions.
