She will handle all official statements and press interactions for Ukraine’s foreign ministry on various matters, including the war!

Why give such an important task to a bot?

Ukraine’s foreign affairs minister, Dmytro Kuleba, says it is because the ongoing war already demands so much attention, and passing on this task not only saves time and resources but also lets the "real diplomats" focus more effectively on helping citizens.

And here's the kicker - Victoria Shi is actually based on a real person, a Ukrainian singer and influencer named Rosalie Nombre.

But the part that puts us at ease the most is that all the content she delivers will be written and verified 100% by humans, only the visual aspect will be AI-generated.

And let me tell you, the visuals are spot-on! Her head and hand movements make the presentation feel incredibly natural.

The ministry has also cleverly equipped each of Victoria Shi's statements with a unique QR code that links back to the official text on the Ministry's website.

🚫 Microsoft Bans AI Facial Recognition for U.S. Police!

Microsoft doesn't want U.S. police departments to use generative AI for facial recognition via its Azure OpenAI Service — the changes to its terms of service have made that very clear!

But why, you ask?

It could be because of the obvious fact that even the best generative AI models today have racial biases and hallucinate facts that aren't true, which could cause some serious harm.

Or it could be (and this is a far stretch) because of a new product announced just about a week ago by Axon, which uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 generative text model to summarize audio from body cameras.

But it’s unclear whether Axon was using GPT-4 via Azure OpenAI Service, and if so, ​​whether the updated policy was in response to Axon’s product launch.

Microsoft did, however, make it clear that this ban doesn't apply to all police departments using the service.

It only applies to U.S. police departments using real-time facial recognition on mobile cameras like body cams, leaving room for international police use.
