Amazon Kills Alexa’s Privacy Setting.

Amazon just made a big privacy decision for you—and It’s not in your favor.

Starting March 28, the “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” setting on Alexa will disappear, replaced by a new “Don’t Save Recordings” option.

After that, every time you speak to Alexa—whether you’re checking the weather or venting about your day—your voice recordings will be sent straight to Amazon’s cloud for processing, whether you like it or not.

Why Is Amazon Doing This?

Blame AI. Amazon is rolling out Alexa+, an upgraded, AI-powered version of its assistant that promises smarter responses, better personalization, and even the ability to recognize different voices.

But to make all that work, Alexa needs your voice data—every last bit of it.

And here’s the kicker: if you’re not a Prime member, you’ll have to shell out $20 a month just to chat with this AI-enhanced Alexa.

That's right—Amazon wants you to pay to talk to Alexa while also handing over your voice data. If you ask me, that’s a double win for them, but not so much for you.

Previously, some Echo devices processed voice commands locally, giving users a small layer of privacy. But now? Every single request is heading straight to Amazon’s servers.

Sure, Amazon claims it will delete recordings after processing—but given its shaky record of privacy, that’s a tough sell.

Should You Be Worried?

Well, Amazon has been caught mishandling voice data before.

Remember when employees were secretly listening to Alexa recordings? Or when Amazon had to fork over $25 million for illegally keeping kids’ voice data?

Oh, and let’s not forget the time they used Alexa recordings to train their AI—without exactly making that clear to users.

Overall, it’s clear that Amazon’s privacy track record is anything but reassuring.

So What’s Next?

With Apple pushing privacy-focused AI and Google exploring on-device processing, Amazon’s approach feels… invasive.

If you’re fine trading privacy for convenience, Alexa+ might be the assistant you’ve always wanted. But if you actually value your data, this might be your sign to unplug Alexa or your Echo device for good.

🎮 Roblox Unleashes “Cube” – Its AI-Powered 3D Model Generator!

Roblox just dropped a game-changer: Cube, its brand-new AI-powered 3D model generator that lets creators bring objects to life with a simple text prompt.

And here’s the best part—it’s open source!

Yep, that means even developers outside of Roblox can build on it, customize it, and train it with their own data.

First announced last year, Cube is making its big debut today at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and will roll out to creators later this week.

The first tool in the Cube arsenal is called Mesh generation—which lets you type something like “generate an orange racing car with black stripes,” and boom, the AI creates it instantly.

No 3D modeling skills required! And, of course, you can tweak and refine it inside Roblox Studio for that perfect final touch.

But that’s not all. Roblox is going all-in on AI with three more tools coming soon:

  • Text Generation – AI-powered NPCs that you can talk to in-game! 🎭

  • Text-to-Speech – AI narration, talking NPCs, and spoken captions! 🎙️

  • Speech-to-Text – Voice commands for controlling characters or gameplay! 🎮

Imagine walking into a game world, chatting with AI-driven characters, or even using your voice to direct your avatar—it’s all happening!

It gets even crazier. Roblox is working on AI that won’t just generate objects but entire scenes.

Want a dense forest with golden autumn leaves? Just type it in, and AI will make it.

The long-term vision? Fully functional "4D creation"—where AI-generated objects, environments, and players all interact in real-time.

With Cube streamlining workflows, Roblox hopes to empower indie creators to tackle bigger, more ambitious projects with ease. And this isn’t Roblox’s first AI venture—it’s already rolled out tools for texture generation and avatar creation.

AI is rapidly transforming the gaming world, and companies are racing to push the boundaries.

Case in point? Tencent just dropped its open-source 3D generation model, capable of turning text prompts or 2D images into detailed 3D assets.

Of course, AI in gaming is a hot topic, and not everyone is on board.

A recent industry report revealed that 30% of game developers feel AI is negatively impacting the industry, and some studies predict that over 13% of gaming jobs could be affected by AI by 2026.

But whether AI is a creative revolution or a disruption, one thing’s certain: Roblox just made building worlds easier than ever.
