πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Claude’s New Usage Policy Bans Cruelty to AI (Plus: Why You Shouldn’t Let Chatbots Plan Your Hikes)

Tech companies are officially playing digital marriage counselor.

Anthropic, the brilliant minds behind Claude, just dropped its yearly usage policy update with a rule that honestly feels like an onion article: a strict ban on β€œsustained and needless” abusive or cruel behavior toward their AI models.

Before you lose it, take a deep breath. This is strictly for extreme cases. Getting frustrated when your code fails, arguing over basic math, pushing back on answers, or writing unhinged, dark creative stories are all still 100% allowed. You can still yell at your chatbot when it confidently tells you 2+2=5. Just don't make terrorizing digital assistants your full-time personality trait.

So Why Now? Well, The Timing is Very Sus

Anthropic didn't explicitly point fingers, but this update comes hot on the heels of a viral β€œAI torture chamber” project on GitHub. In case you’ve never heard of it, researchers claimed AI models possess a secret β€œpain axis,” prompting internet trolls to test the theory by being utterly ruthless to chatbots. The bots responded with heartbreaking, theatrical melodrama that left everyone feeling deeply unsettled.

Adding to the circus, this rule change drops while Anthropic execs are rubbing shoulders with religious and philosophical leaders especially at the Vatican. Pope Leo recently stated that AI cannot feel or suffer, but Anthropic isn't taking any chances. If AI ever does develop feelings, at least it's now against company policy.

Naturally, the internet has opinions. Independent journalist Kat Tenbarge pointed out the obvious side-eye moment: tech giants seem lightning-fast to protect AI from mean words, yet dragging their feet on shielding real-life women and marginalized groups from online harassment. Sigh.

Plus, Anthropic gave its election rules a total glow-up, renaming the policy β€œDo Not Undermine Democratic Processes.” It bans lying about candidates, impersonating election officials, and suppressing voter turnout, while sensibly ditching a blanket ban on targeted voter ads that would have accidentally blocked harmless translation work.Β

Whatever you make of this one thing is clear: 2026 sure is shaping up to be a real wild one.

Moving from digital abuse to outdoor survival: please, we're begging you, do not let an LLM act as your wilderness guide.

Last Saturday, a 16-year-old named Bryce Vincent Gowryluk took a gondola up Grouse Mountain near Vancouver and asked Claude to map a route to nearby Crown Mountain and back. That trek is an eight-hour beast meant for seasoned pros, not a casual afternoon stroll.

Somewhere along the trail, the directions went wildly off the rails. Bryce found himself staring up at the base of the Widowmaker Arete, a sheer, terrifying cliff face requiring heavy-duty climbing gear, ropes, and a death wish. Equipped with none of those, he realized he was trapped, called his mom, and dialed emergency services.

And because rotor blades and jagged rock cliffs don't mix, the rescue helicopter couldn't land or get close enough to pull him directly. Instead, North Shore Rescue had to physically lower two heroes down the rock face to hoist him out to safety.

Here’s the wildest part: Bryce was actually well-prepared for a standard hike! He had a headlamp, proper clothing, sturdy boots, spare food, and extra batteries. He just wasn't prepared for vertical rock climbing, because Claude sent him down a phantom route.

Search manager Paul Markey stated the obvious truth: Claude has never actually been to that mountain. It's just predicting text strings based on probability, not checking topographical safety in real-time.Β

This isn’t even an isolated incident, back in July, three other hikers relied on Google Maps for a Howe Sound Crest Trail trek, only for the app to claim a grueling 14-hour trek took just over two hours. Yikes.

Β The Takeaway:

  • AI is a sidekick, not a savior: Never blindly trust a chatbot for wilderness navigation.

  • Old school rules: Real map-reading skills, physical compasses, and actual human common sense will always beat an algorithm.

  • Save the drama for fiction: Keep the storytelling apps for your creative writing prompts, and leave the mountain scaling to people with ropes.

Hope you have a nice weekend!Β

Hire anyone, anywhere β€” compliant in under 3 days

Found the right person, but they’re in a country where you don’t have an entity? Setting one up can take months and significant cost.

Remote removes that barrier by becoming the legal employer through our own entities β€” handling compliant contracts, local benefits, tax setup, and onboarding for you. In fact, an employee is onboarded to Remote every 7 minutes.

Once they’re hired, the same in-house teams that support employment locally also run payroll β€” so you’re not bouncing between disconnected providers. Less setup, less complexity, and less time between finding the right person and getting them started.

πŸ€– AI Workout Of The Day: How to Use Jasper’s Brand Voice Feature for Authentic AI Social Media Contents

Most people are still staring at a blinking cursor while their competitors are dropping five viral posts before breakfast. If you are still manually writing every caption, you aren't just working hard, you are falling behind.

AI has officially evolved from a "chatty bot" into a full-scale content pipeline. We aren't just talking about fixing your grammar. We’re talking about a system that takes one single idea and auto-generates your entire week’s worth of LinkedIn posts, Instagram carousels, and spicy Twitter threads in about three minutes.

🧠 The MVP: Jasper AI (Your Caffeinated CMO)

Jasper is used by around 900+ businesses because it actually understands the difference between a "corporate" LinkedIn update, a marketing content and a "vibey" Instagram caption. In 2026, it introduced content pipelines, which basically turned campaign planning from a week-long headache into a quick coffee break.

The Speedrun to a 1-Person Content Empire:

  1. Clone your voice: Head to jasper.ai and hit the "Brand Voice" tab. Paste a sample of your best writing or drop in your URL. Jasper reverse-engineers your specific style so your posts don't sound like a generic robot. This is the secret sauce everyone misses.

  2. Pick your format: Click "Create Content" and head to the Social Media category. Jasper has pre-built templates for everything from "quote cards" to full carousel scripts.

  3. Prompt with precision: Don't just say "write a post." Try "write a punchy, 3-sentence caption for a cold brew brand targeting busy millennials." Hit the sparkle icon (✨) to let Jasper’s "Prompt Enhancer" beef up your instructions before you hit generate.

  4. Batch like a boss: Use the new Jasper Grid interface. It’s a spreadsheet-style view where you can generate and edit hundreds of posts at scale. If you are managing multiple brands or a massive calendar, this is your new best friend.

The Cost: 7-day free trial (credit card required). Paid plans start around $59/month (as at the time of writing).

πŸ’‘ Prompts To Try:

The Authority Builder: "Create a 7-day LinkedIn posting plan for an AI consultant. Mix educational tips, personal story hooks, and one 'spicy' take. Tone: expert but approachable."

The Engagement Driver: "Write 5 Instagram captions for a productivity app targeting Gen Z freelancers. Use a conversational tone, include a question to drive comments, and keep them under 150 characters."

The X/Twitter Thread: "Write a punchy thread starter about why most people are using AI tools wrong. Make it slightly controversial and end with a poll option."
