Apple’s new exciting feature
Users can soon upgrade to ChatGPT Plus via Apple settings.

Apple’s integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT has a new twist: It will give Apple users a direct way to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus within the Settings app.
Here’s what we have for you today:

It’s no longer news that Apple is integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its products with iOS 18.2, which will be released in December.
Many have considered it a strange partnership because it’s unclear how both companies expect to profit, but new details may provide much-needed answers.
Recent reports reveal that Apple is including an option to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus right from its Settings app.
This means Apple users will have a direct pathway to subscribe to OpenAI's premium plan, which costs $20 a month.
And this could, in turn, significantly boost OpenAI's paid subscriber numbers and bring in more revenue, especially since free ChatGPT users are missing out on a lot.
Free chatGPT users can’t access OpenAI’s latest models, such as the o1-preview, or premium features, like the Advanced Voice Mode.
Plus, with other restrictions like creating only two Dall-E images per day and sending limited messages to the chatbot, an upgrade may be in the cards for some users.
And this seamless upgrade path might make it all the more tempting to take the leap.
But is this enough to make the deal worthwhile to OpenAI?
Apple reportedly isn’t paying OpenAI in cash but rather in exposure, and this new upgrade option might be just enough exposure if users sign up.
However, if users flock to the free version without upgrading, OpenAI could face rising operational costs.
As for Apple, it’s still a mystery whether they plan to take a slice of the revenue generated from ChatGPT Plus signups through the Settings app.
They might simply be banking that the added appeal of cutting-edge AI features will drive customers to upgrade their devices, all while providing OpenAI with valuable exposure.

🤑 Anthropic Ups the Price on New AI Model!
Anthropic’s latest AI model, Claude 3.5 Haiku, has officially entered the scene.
While it matches (and sometimes outshines) the previous model, Claude 3 Opus, in certain areas, it arrives with a hefty price hike that has users raising eyebrows.
The model is available through its API and platforms like AWS Bedrock, so it’s ready to assist with coding, data extraction, content moderation, and more.
But before you dive in, there are a few twists you should know.
First off, Anthropic initially promised Claude 3.5 Haiku would stick to Claude 3 Haiku’s pricing.
But then, just before launch, they decided, “Actually… this one’s smarter,” and slapped on a higher price tag, calling it “reflective of its increased intelligence.”
Claude 3.5 Haiku will now cost $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens to analyze your data.
That’s a steep 4x jump from Claude 3 Haiku’s 25 cents per million input tokens and $1.25 per million output tokens.
And here’s the kicker: Claude 3.5 Haiku loses one big feature—image analysis.
If that’s crucial for you, you might want to stick with the older but still reliable Claude 3 Haiku, which Anthropic plans to keep available for those looking to save a few bucks (aka the “cost-conscious users”).
That said, Claude 3.5 Haiku does have some nice perks!
It can produce longer text responses and has a more recent knowledge base, which means it's up-to-date on recent events.
But in a landscape where price hikes for new AI models (especially when it's a model in series) are almost unheard of, Anthropic's decision has got many talking.
Perhaps Anthropic is simply testing the waters to see how much users are willing to shell out for a “smarter” model.🤷♀️
Either way, Claude 3.5 Haiku is here, and it makes us wonder if quality AI is about to get pricier.
