ChatGPT is getting AI memory

READ TIME - 1 min 08 seconds

Hello and welcome to the Automated, your AI tour guide.

OpenAI was testing a memory feature some time ago, and now, they’ve delivered - for paying subscribers, at least!

Here’s what we have for you today:

💃 ChatGPT Gets a Memory Feature!

OpenAI is rolling out a “Memory feature” to ChatGPT Plus paying subscribers outside of Europe or Korea.

Don’t ask about the exemption cuz no one knows why, but guess what?

Even ChatGPT Enterprise, Teams, and custom GPTs on the GPT Store will soon have access to this feature. The only downside is that OpenAI hasn't given us a specific date yet.

And if you’re wondering what this memory feature is or even why you should be looking forward to it, here’s the lowdown:

OpenAI says the feature works in two ways to make ChatGPT’s responses more personalized.

The first is by telling or pointing out to ChatGPT the details you want it to remember, e.g., you always write code in Javascript, your boss’s name is Anna, or your kid is allergic to sweet potatoes.

The second is that it (ChatGPT) automatically learns from your conversations with it, and once it remembers your preferences, it can include them without needing a reminder.

But if the thought of an AI chatbot knowing or remembering details about you creeps you out, then don’t worry!

You can turn off memory at any time, or if you want ChatGPT to forget something, just tell it. (Here’s how)

In fact, ChatGPT will now notify you when memories are updated, so you get a heads-up.

📹 China’s rival to OpenAI’s Sora!

Move over, Sora — there's a new contender in town!

China just unveiled a new text-to-video platform called “Vidu” that could compete with or even outperform OpenAI’s Sora!

Vidu can whip up stunning 16-second 1080p videos with intricate details like facial expressions and lighting effects, all with just a simple prompt!

But what makes Vidu truly special is its cultural flair!

It can generate visuals that incorporate iconic Chinese symbols like pandas and the mythical loong (dragon), making it a hit with local creators and audiences.

While this tool is a major step forward in AI video generation, we can't deny that it’s also a strategic win for China, who's determined to lead the global AI race.
