ChatGPT lands on Windows!

Plus, changes to X's privacy policy...

Hello and welcome to the Automated, your AI tour guide.

Windows users, your very own ChatGPT app has arrived, and spoiler alert: it’s a preview for now, but it will make your life much easier!

Here’s what we have for you today:

💃 ChatGPT lands on Windows!

ChatGPT is officially on Windows, guys!

Well…. sort of. It's in a preview phase right now, so it’s like getting a sneak peek at a blockbuster before the grand premiere.

But hey, if you’re a ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, or Edu user, you’re in! (you can download the early version from the Microsoft Store right here)

And here’s the fun part:

This app lets you upload and chat about your files and photos because talking to your computer about spreadsheets is apparently the future.

Plus, it comes with OpenAI’s latest and greatest model, the o1-preview, which is basically the brainiest version of ChatGPT so far.

But hold on—it's not all perfect.

While it runs on most Windows 10 machines, it doesn’t come with voice support, so you won’t be having deep conversations with your computer anytime soon.

This feature and some integrations with the GPT Store are still in the works. So, for now, it’s more “type away” than “talk away.”

On the upside, you can shrink the app to a cute little “companion” window while you work on other things or access it quickly with an Alt + Space shortcut.

Oh, and did I mention DALL-E 3 is built in? Yep, you can whip up AI-generated images while you're at it.

That's not bad for an early preview, huh? Stay tuned for the full version release later this year!

Writer RAG tool: build production-ready RAG apps in minutes

RAG in just a few lines of code? We’ve launched a predefined RAG tool on our developer platform, making it easy to bring your data into a Knowledge Graph and interact with it with AI. With a single API call, writer LLMs will intelligently call the RAG tool to chat with your data.

Integrated into Writer’s full-stack platform, it eliminates the need for complex vendor RAG setups, making it quick to build scalable, highly accurate AI workflows just by passing a graph ID of your data as a parameter to your RAG tool.

🤯 Changes to X's Privacy Policy!

Elon Musk’s X has updated its privacy policy to allow third-party “collaborators” to use X’s data to train their AI models unless users opt-out.

To do so, the policy points to the settings page on X.

However, it doesn't specifically indicate where users should go within the settings to toggle off data-sharing.

But that may be because the updated privacy policy won’t become effective until November 15, and hopefully, the opt-out option will be added by then.🤞

But that’s not all — X also removed its policy of keeping user data for a specific time.

Now, they state that they will keep "different types of information for different periods of time," depending on various factors.

Plus, they've included a note reminding users that public content can still exist elsewhere even after it’s removed from X.

The big question is, why these changes?

X hasn't officially commented on why, but it can be implied that, like Reddit, OpenAI, and various media organizations, it is considering licensing data to AI companies as a potential new revenue stream.

So, if you’re an X user, now's a good time to review your privacy settings and stay informed.
