🤩 Google's AI Red Team: The Ethical Hackers Making AI Safer
Google has assembled a team of hackers to identify vulnerabilities in its AI system and improve its security.
They're calling this team The AI Red Team.
Why this matters:
Before the 1950s, cars were dangerous — Safety, untempered glass, no seat belts and airbags.
It took numerous test crashes to understand what happens in a crash (in real-time) — That data was used to make adjustments in car designs.
That's how we got seat belts, airbags, and all the other things we take for granted today.
Google is trying to implement the same idea in securing AI systems.
They're also encouraging other organizations to incorporate red teaming into their processes.
Please watch the video above to learn more about what Google's Red Team is up to.
💃 ChatGPT Can Now Remember Who You Are and What You Want
ChatGPT has released a new feature called “custom instructions”
It provides a way for users to tell ChatGPT things it should always know about them, and how to tailor its response accordingly.
For example:
If you’re a teacher, you can put “I teach third grade” into your custom instructions so the bot can tailor its answer whenever you ask for interesting facts about the Moon.
But there’s a catch:
It appears that adding these instructions may complicate your query and potentially increase the likelihood of ChatGPT providing incorrect or fabricated information.
However, Joanne Jang from OpenAI's model behaviors and product team says that’s “Part of the reason we’re launching this in beta”.
The feature is available today on an opt-in basis to ChatGPT Plus subscribers everywhere but the UK and EU.
