💃 ChatGPT Web Search is Here!

ChatGPT just leveled up—it is now officially an AI-powered web search engine.

Users can prompt ChatGPT to search for the latest news, stock updates, or even local recommendations and get responses linking directly to sources.

For example, when OpenAI’s ChatGPT search lead, Adam Fry, demonstrated the feature, he searched for Apple’s stock and any relevant news.

And just like that, an interactive stock graph appeared, packed with info on upcoming earnings and relevant news articles, complete with clickable citations to the original sources.

Plus, a sources sidebar was included to let users scroll through a list of relevant websites.

Another example returned an interactive map that dropped pins for recommended restaurants when searching for Italian restaurants in San Francisco.

And in both examples, follow-up questions were asked to get even better results.

ChatGPT also decides when to pull results from the web based on your queries, but you can manually trigger a web search whenever you want. Cool, right?

What’s even cooler is that this new search functionality isn't a separate product—it’s seamlessly integrated into ChatGPT’s existing interface.

This new feature will be available across all ChatGPT platforms: iOS, Android, and desktop apps for macOS and Windows. 

All paid subscribers and SearchGPT waitlist users already have access, while free, enterprise, and education users will gain access in the coming weeks.

But why should you choose ChatGPT over Google Search?

Aside from all the cool perks mentioned earlier, one clear reason is that there’s no clutter of advertising or promoted queries pinned to the top.

OpenAI says it currently has “no plans” to advertise in ChatGPT.

However, running such an advanced AI-powered search isn’t cheap, and it’s not yet clear how OpenAI will finance it for free users.

It’s been said that free users will have “some limits on how often they can use the latest search models,” but who knows what’s to come?🤷‍♀️

And about those pesky hallucinations, like when Google’s AI suggested putting glue on pizza—Fry is optimistic that ChatGPT’s search will “increase factual accuracy overall.”

🤩 Claude Now Has Desktop Apps!

Anthropic just gave its AI chatbot, Claude, a cozy new spot on your desktop!

That’s right—Claude now has its own apps for Mac and Windows, available in public beta, meaning you can chat with it directly from your main workspace.

Quick heads-up, though:

If you were hoping for Claude’s new "Computer Use" feature—the one in its upgraded 3.5 Sonnet version that can actually run tasks on your PC—that’s not here yet.

So, don’t feel too disappointed when Claude can’t organize your files or launch apps for you.

But the good news is that both free and premium users can try out the new desktop vibe.

Oh, and Anthropic didn’t stop there—they also included a handy dictation feature for mobile users.

Now, on iOS, Android, or iPadOS, you can record up to 10 minutes of thoughts or questions, and Claude will transcribe and reply!

But get this: It’s not exactly a real-time chat.

Think of it more like a voice memo than a full-on conversation—but it's still pretty slick when your thumbs need a break.

Meanwhile, Anthropic is reportedly on a funding spree.

They’re aiming to raise billions at a jaw-dropping $40 billion valuation. Clearly, they’re going all-in to keep Claude swinging with AI heavyweights like ChatGPT.

Overall, Anthropic hopes Claude becomes a seamless part of your work life—and maybe, just maybe, one day, it’ll even handle your to-do list for you!
