🤩 China’s New AI Challenger: DeepSeek-R1

DeepSeek, a Chinese AI lab, has launched its latest creation: the DeepSeek-R1, a reasoning AI model that aims to take on OpenAI's o1.

DeepSeek-R1 can reason through tasks methodically, plan ahead, and execute a sequence of actions—all of which guide it toward resolving questions.

This is similar to OpenAI’s o1, which means that, depending on the complexity of the question, DeepSeek-R1 (like o1) takes tens of seconds to arrive at answers.

In a head-to-head challenge on popular AI benchmarks, DeepSeek-R1 (or DeepSeek-R1-Lite-Preview, to be precise) has shown impressive performance.

It matches OpenAI’s o1-preview on the AIME and MATH tests.

AIME evaluates AI performance using other models, while MATH is a collection of word problems.

However, it's not all smooth sailing for DeepSeek-R1.

Users on X have pointed out that the model struggles with tic-tac-toe and other logic problems, a situation similar to that of o1.

It’s also vulnerable to jailbreak prompts, with one user even coaxing it into providing a detailed meth recipe.

Plus, strict government regulations in China mean it sidesteps politically sensitive topics entirely.

On a brighter note, DeepSeek says it plans to open-source DeepSeek-R1 and release an API.

👏 Nvidia Tops the charts Again!

Nvidia is absolutely crushing it right now, folks.

Their Q3 2025 earnings report shows they remain the most valuable company globally, surpassing major companies like Microsoft and Apple.

And their secret sauce? AI chips, of course.

These chips are making it rain cash; their AI-driven data center business pulled in a staggering $30.7 billion this quarter alone, accounting for most of Nvidia’s $35 billion in total revenue.

To put that in perspective, Nvidia’s gaming business, which was once the company's heart and soul, now brings in a modest $2–3 billion per quarter.

Not bad, but it’s safe to say that what used to be the main course is now more of a side hustle.

But that’s not all that grabbed our attention:

In the same report, the company mentioned its latest and greatest AI chips, dubbed Blackwell

This was a bit of a surprise, given some whispers about potential cooling issues—thanks to insights from The Information.

But according to Nvidia, Blackwell is on fire—in the best possible way, of course.

They’ve already shipped 13,000 samples this quarter, and CEO Jensen Huang couldn’t be more confident, calling Blackwell a multibillion-dollar success.

But that’s not all

We also learned that Nvidia’s H200, which debuted last year, has officially become their fastest-selling product to date.

On top of that, the iconic H100 (the original AI game-changer) continues to perform strong and is expected to keep flying off the shelves well into next year

Honestly, the only thing moving slower than Nvidia’s AI chips right now is their competition.

AMD is still scrambling to catch up, while Intel seems to be... well, trying to figure out how to even enter the game.

So yeah, Nvidia isn’t just riding the AI wave; they’re practically steering the ship.

But the big question is: how long can they maintain this incredible momentum?
