šŸ‘ŗ Crypto Scammers Hit OpenAI Again!

OpenAI just got hit by crypto scammersā€”again!

This time, their official press account on X (formerly Twitter) was hacked by the same scammers whoā€™ve been going after the companyā€™s leadership over the past few months.

So, what happened?

Late Monday, the account posted a very convincingā€”but totally fakeā€”announcement about a new blockchain token called ā€œ$OPENAI.ā€

The post claimed that holding this token would give you exclusive access to future beta programs and that OpenAI users could grab a piece of the action by connecting their crypto wallets.

But you know what? It's 100% bogus.

The scammers even set up a phishing website that mimicked OpenAIā€™s real site but with a slightly sketchy URL ("token-openai.com").

Once you click the link, you are hit with a flashy ā€œCLAIM $OPENAIā€ button that lures people to connect their wallets.

Anyone who falls for it will probably have had their login credentials and wallet information stolen. Itā€™s a Classic phishing scheme with a new AI twist.

And to top it off, they even misspelled "OpenAI" as "OPEANAI. Yikes!

But heyā€”this isnā€™t the first time OpenAI has been targeted.

Back in June, OpenAIā€™s CTO Mira Murati had her X account hacked with a similar scam promoting this imaginary token.

And a few months later, OpenAIā€™s chief scientist and one of its researchers had their accounts hijacked, too.

Even big names and companies like Apple, Elon Musk, and even Joe Biden have had their accounts hacked for crypto scams.

These scammers are getting bolder, and unfortunately, theyā€™re making bank.šŸ¤‘

In 2023, Americans lost a jaw-dropping $5.6 billion to crypto scams, and 2024 is shaping up to be just as bad.

So, the moral of the story? If you see an offer for free, that looks too good to be trueā€”it probably is! Always double-check URLs and never connect your wallet to shady sites.

šŸ†• Rabbit R1: A Rocky Start, But New Updates Promise More!

The Rabbit R1, once a buzzworthy gadget in early 2024, quickly lost steam when its lofty promises didnā€™t materialize.

CEO Jesse Lyu even recently admitted they ā€œset expectations too high,ā€ but a major update set to release by October 1 could turn things around.

The new update will introduce a web-based agent designed to help you with any ordinary task online, from buying concert tickets to registering a website.

It works by first breaking down any task into steps and then executing them by analyzing what it sees on screen: buttons, fields, and images, regardless of position or appearance.

Then, it interacts with the appropriate element based on what it has learned about how websites work in general. Pretty cool, right?

This move shifts Rabbit from being tied to just a few services (like Uber and Spotify) to a broader, more versatile tool.

Still, skeptics remain cautious, noting that despite 16 over-the-air updates to the r1, Rabbit's capabilities have been limited.

Lyu assures that the upcoming version will be a game-changer, even though itā€™s not ā€œperfectā€ yet.

Will this be the boost Rabbit needs? Time will tell.šŸ¤ž
