šŸ—£ļø Ex-OpenAI employees call out Sam Altman!

You might have heard that two OpenAI researchers, Daniel Kokotajlo and William Saunders, quit their jobs earlier this year due to safety concerns.

Well, they're speaking out again!

This time, they're calling out their former boss, Sam Altman, for opposing the California bill aimed at preventing AI disasters.

According to them, Altman probably did more than anyone else to promote the idea that AI needs regulations, but now that an actual bill is on the table, is he suddenly against it?

They're disappointed, to say the least, yet they are not surprised. They believe that OpenAI is prioritizing its interests over safety.

They made some bold claims there, including urging Governor Gavin Newsom to sign the bill.

Well, OpenAI was quick to respond to this one.

They claim they're only being misunderstood and don't entirely oppose AI regulations but only support federal-level regulations due to national security and competitiveness concerns.

But here comes the twist:

While OpenAI is busy fighting off the bill and is coming under fire from all sides for doing so, Anthropic, their rival AI company, goes ahead to fully support the bill with some suggested amendments.

I mean, that's what we call rivalry, right? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

But are these AI companies prioritizing progress over safety, or are they genuinely concerned about the impact of regulation?

One thing's for sureā€”as AI technology advances, we need to have a serious conversation about how to ensure its responsible development.

šŸ¤Æ AI-Generated Quotes in Movie Trailer!

You wonā€™t believe this:

Lionsgate released a trailer for Megalopolis that featured negative quotes about director Francis Ford Coppola's previous works.

Some of the trailerā€™s quotes called The Godfather a "sloppy, self-indulgent movie" and Apocalypse Now "an epic piece of trash."

Lionsgate has since removed the trailer and apologized to all involved for what they called ā€œan inexcusable error in our vetting process.ā€

They even cut ties with Eddie Egan, the marketing consultant who was responsible for the trailer's materials.

But during all that chaos, speculation started that the quotes may have been generated by AI tools, like OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT.

Well, the AI-ness of it all was confirmed in an investigation.

And it's not all that surprising; AIā€™s capability to deliver falsehoods with casual confidence is well documented.

Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, once submitted court documents referencing multiple non-existent court cases, and a Columbian airline's lawyers also fell victim to ā€˜bogusā€™ citations.

Even Fugees rapper Pras MichƩl lost a federal conspiracy case when his lawyer submitted an AI-generated closing argument.

And we can bet a million dollars that there are many more cases like this.
