🤩 GitHub’s New AI Tool!
GitHub has just unveiled an exciting innovation: GitHub Spark!
This groundbreaking AI-powered tool lets you create small web apps using just your natural language prompts—yep, no coding required!
You kick off your app-building journey with a simple prompt, and Spark gives you a live preview within seconds.
From there, you can fine-tune the app and repeat it by going back and forth with the bot. See it in action here.
The best part? Experienced developers can still see and edit the code.
Underneath it all is a GitHub repository, GitHub Actions, and Microsoft’s Azure CosmosDB as the default database for applications that need one — but remember, editing the code is entirely optional.
Plus, you can even select from various AI models, like OpenAI’s GPT or Anthropic’s Claude, to guide your project.
Sharing your creations is a breeze, too.
You can easily share your Sparks with customized access controls, and if you receive a shared code, you can easily build on it yourself. How awesome is that?
CEO Thomas Dohmke emphasizes that Spark isn’t here to replace developers.
Instead, the tool is designed to help them (and anyone else) build cool little helper bots for everyday tasks or simply explore software development with natural language.
If you want to try out GitHub Spark, you can sign up for the technical preview here.

🚫 U.S. Clamps Down on China’s Tech Investments!
The Biden administration just put up a big “Keep Out” sign for U.S. investors wanting to fund China’s cutting-edge tech.
Starting January 2, new rules will officially block American dollars from pouring into Chinese projects involving advanced AI, quantum tech, and semiconductors.
Especially anything that might end up powering China’s next-gen fighter jets or spy tech that feels straight out of a sci-fi thriller.
And it’s not just about cutting off cash.
While U.S. investors can still buy publicly traded Chinese stocks, they’re now barred from offering “intangible” values like mentoring, insider know-how, or talent connections that could give China (or other “countries of concern”) an edge in military, intelligence, and cybersecurity tech.
The Treasury’s new Office of Global Transactions is set to keep a close eye on things to ensure none of this support sneaks into areas that could boost China’s intel capabilities.
And yes, there’s a bigger picture here.
This move is part of a broader plan to prevent U.S. expertise and resources from fueling China’s rise in critical tech.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo calls it essential—and for good reason.
Congress is even turning up the heat on major U.S. investment firms, arguing that funneling billions to certain Chinese companies is like handing your competition the blueprints.
Bottom line? No one’s too keen on helping the competition build smarter, faster tech.
