🤩 Gmail App Gets New AI Feature!

If you're an Android user already hooked up with Google's Gemini AI assistant, you're in for a treat!

Google just rolled out a new feature called Gmail Q&A, which lets you chat directly with Gemini in the Gmail app!

You can now ask it to summarize your emails, find specific details, or give you a quick overview — all without the hassle of scrolling through endless messages or relying on the traditional search bar.

So, if your inbox is overflowing with emails, read or unread, Gemini is here to help.😃

While the search bar is still around and as active as ever, Google is clearly nudging us toward using Gemini for quick answers.

Let’s face it: With AI popping up everywhere, it’s only a matter of time before chat-based assistance replaces traditional search altogether.

For now, Gemini only has access to your emails, but Google plans to expand its capabilities to include files in your Drive, too.

Oh, and if you’re an iOS user, don’t worry—this feature is coming to you soon.

However, this perk is only available for paying users, so if you're a free user, this feature might not come your way anytime soon.

But if you’re already subscribed to Gemini, you can start using it immediately by clicking the black star logo at the top-right corner of the app.

One last thing: as awesome as Gemini is, remember to double-check its responses because, as we all know — AI still has its quirks!

💃 Major AI Safety Milestone!

OpenAI and Anthropic are putting AI safety at the forefront with their latest move!

Both companies have signed memorandums of understanding with the US AI Safety Institute to provide access to their models before and after they are released to the public.

The Agency, on its part, will then evaluate safety risks and provide feedback on safety improvements.

All in a bid to mitigate potential issues!

These first-of-its-kind agreements align with other AI safety measures that have been happening recently.

California lawmakers, for example, recently passed a bill that requires AI companies in California to take specific safety measures before training advanced foundation models.

Even the White House has secured voluntary commitments on AI safety from major companies.

And many leading firms have also entered into non-binding commitments to pour money into cybersecurity, discrimination research, and work on watermarking AI-generated content.

These show the efforts to steer AI's future in a responsible direction, and we’re here for it!
