📲 Google Explains How Our Chat Data Is Handled!

If you frequently use Gemini (Google’s family of GenAI apps), listen up! Because we have some really important information that you should know about.
First off, never, I mean never, ever type anything into the chatbot that’s incriminating — or that you wouldn’t want someone else to see.
Why the warning, you ask?
Well, Google has just released a new support document that outlines how they collect and handle data from Gemini users across the web, Android, and iOS.
And dearest reader! You won’t believe what we found out!
For starters, it turns out that real humans, whom Google calls “annotators,” routinely read, label, and process conversations with Gemini to improve and enhance the service.
But here’s the kicker: Google conveniently forgot to mention whether these annotators are in-house or outsourced.
We also found that conversations and other important details like the devices and languages used with your location are stored for three years. Yes, you read that right—three whole years!
Even if you try to dodge the data collection by toggling off Gemini Apps Activity, Google still holds onto your convos for up to 72 hours!
Their reason? To keep things safe and improve the apps.
But this isn't unique to Google. Other GenAI giants like OpenAI have similar data retention policies.
OpenAI saves all your chats with ChatGPT for 30 days regardless of whether ChatGPT’s conversation history feature is switched off.
The only exception is if you’re subscribed to the enterprise-level plan with a custom data retention policy.
So, whether you’re chatting with Gemini, ChatGPT, or any other bot, remember that your information might be stored for longer than you realize.
