🤯 Google’s Latest Power Move!

Google has just made a major move by rehiring the co-founders of Character.AI, Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas.
What's even more interesting is that these are the same guys who left Google in 2021 due to frustration with the company's bureaucracy!
And now, they'll be returning with a team of around 30 researchers to join Google DeepMind.
Their specific roles are still under wraps, but Google has scored a non-exclusive license for Character.AI's top-notch language model technology.
But does this mean Character.AI is disappearing? Not at all!
Instead of an outright acquisition, Google will be paying investors $2.5 billion for their equity.
In addition, Character.AI's employees are receiving payouts for their shares and will continue working under new interim CEO Dominic Perella.
They’ll operate independently and will explore third-party language models to enhance their AI offerings.
So yeah, Character.AI will keep on keeping on!😀
But get this: Industry insiders are predicting potential regulatory drama ahead.
There's speculation that the deal might face scrutiny from regulatory bodies like the FTC and the EU, especially given recent investigations into similar hires by other tech giants.
It's clear that the AI game is heating up, with Microsoft and Amazon also making moves to snap up top talent from startups.
Google is definitely playing catch-up, and it's anyone's guess where this wild ride will take us next.

⚖️ DOJ Launches Two Antitrust Probes into Nvidia!

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched two investigations into Nvidia’s AI-focused business practices.
The first investigation looks into Nvidia's $700 million acquisition of Israeli startup Run:ai, which specializes in GPU management software.
Why?
The specifics are still murky, but big tech acquisitions like this one have been scrutinized lately by US and international regulators for anti-competitive practices.
So, just maybe, that’s the reason for this investigation, who knows.🤷♀️
The Second investigation is to examine whether Nvidia has abused its dominance in the AI chip market.
Competitors allege that Nvidia, which controls 70-95% of the AI chip market pressures cloud providers into buying its products.
And if they choose to purchase AI chips from rival companies like AMD and Intel, Nvidia overcharges them for networking equipment.
But Nvidia strongly disagrees!
The Company emphasizes its commitment to innovation and fair competition and that its practices are lawful.
In fact, it categorically states that its customers can choose whatever solution is best for them.
Oh, and guess what else?
In addition to the US, there are reports that the company may face French antitrust charges for alleged anticompetitive practices.
With all eyes on them, let’s hope they’re playing fair!🤞
