😱 Elon Musk's Grok Faces Early Controversy!
It has been a week since Elon Musk's AI creation, Grok, was made available to the public.
At first, people were excited about its impressive capabilities. However, there are now controversies surrounding the bot's training methods, which have caused intrigue and skepticism among users.
The drama began when Grok refused to respond to a user's query, citing OpenAI's use case policy. The user, Jax Winterbourne, suspected that xAI might be “ripping OpenAI’s code base.”

This led to a playful exchange between Musk and ChatGPT. ChatGPT kicked off with a "We have a lot in common" comment, prompting Musk to humorously accuse ChatGPT of data scraping.
To salvage the situation, xAI's co-founder, Igor Babuschkin, clarified that Grok relies on web data. He revealed that due to the abundance of ChatGPT outputs on the internet, Grok encountered overlap issues.
Importantly, Babuschkin assured users that Grok wasn't trained with OpenAI code and promised to fix the issue in the upcoming update.
The issue here is that the web is full of ChatGPT outputs, so we accidentally picked up some of them when we trained Grok on a large amount of web data.
