It’s hard to believe, but OpenAI’s $200-a-month ChatGPT Pro plan is actually costing the company a lot of money. Yep ,they’re practically hemorrhaging cash.

📉 The Surprising Flop of OpenAI’s $200 ChatGPT Pro Plan.
If you’re familiar with OpenAI’s $200-a-month ChatGPT Pro plan, you probably thought it was a massive win for the company. Well, surprise—it’s not exactly the goldmine the company hoped it would be.
In fact, it’s losing money because users are squeezing every last bit of value out of it.
CEO Sam Altman recently spilled the beans on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that he personally set the price, expecting it to bring in solid profits. But, well... he miscalculated big time.
For those not in the know:
ChatGPT Pro debuted late last year, offering perks like an upgraded AI model (o1 Pro), fewer usage limits, and access to tools like the Sora video generator.
Sounds fancy, right? But with a $2,400-a-year price tag, it wasn’t exactly flying off the shelves.
Still, the few who took the plunge made serious use of it—so much so that OpenAI is now left footing a much bigger bill than they ever expected
And here’s the kicker:
Altman admitted in a Bloomberg interview that the original premium plan’s price was based on… nothing. Yep, no pricing studies. No deep market research. Just vibes.
They tested $20 versus $42 for a premium plan. Unsurprisingly, $42 didn’t sit well with users, so they settled on $20. No consultants, no algorithms—just a calculator and a gut feeling.
And the result? Well, OpenAI as of now isn’t profitable at all. Not even close.
Reports suggest the company lost around $5 billion last year while pulling in $3.7 billion in revenue.
To make matters worse, running ChatGPT at one point cost a staggering $700,000 per day.
Now, OpenAI is in scramble mode, openly admitting they need “more capital than imagined.”
They’re planning a corporate overhaul to woo investors and are seriously considering price hikes for subscriptions and even usage-based pricing.
Meanwhile, they’ve set their sights high—predicting $11.6 billion in revenue this year and a jaw-dropping $100 billion by 2029.
The takeaway? Even an AI powerhouse like OpenAI has bills to pay.
So, what about you? Would you pay more to keep those AI smarts at your fingertips? If so, it might be time to adjust your budget because a brand-new price list could be on the horizon.

💻 Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Chips Target Affordable PCs!
Qualcomm is making waves in the PC world—again! Say hello to Snapdragon X, Qualcomm’s shiny new chip ready to shake up mid-range PCs!
Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, this powerhouse promises multi-day battery life, stunning performance, and a wallet-friendly price tag of around $600.
Qualcomm’s coming for AMD and Intel, and they’re not playing around.
Built on a cutting-edge 4nm fabrication process, Snapdragon X is packed with an eight-core Oryon CPU running at speeds up to 3GHz, plus a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that’s basically a turbocharger for AI tasks.
Add Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and the ability to juggle three 4K monitors running at 60Hz at once, and you’ve got a chip that’s as versatile as it is powerful.
The Snapdragon X will also power a range of Copilot+ PCs and Microsoft’s AI-powered Windows 11 machines that’ll hit shelves in Q1.
And with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo already in line, Snapdragon X is ready to take over.
But Qualcomm isn’t stopping there.
They’ve been cooking up something big: Despite last year’s abrupt cancellation, mini and tiny desktop PCs powered by Snapdragon X processors are set to launch in 2025.
Imagine the power of AI-packed desktops with sleek designs and crazy-good efficiency. Developers are buzzing, and so are we!
Even though Qualcomm captured just 0.8% of the PC market in Q3 2024, they’re not slowing down.
Over 60 Copilot+ PC designs powered by Snapdragon are already in the works.
Although there are still a few compatibility issues to be worked out, Snapdragon-compatible Windows apps have tripled in the past year.
With Snapdragon X, Qualcomm is on a mission to redefine affordable PCs. Whether you’re an AI fanatic or just someone who wants a solid laptop that won’t die mid-movie, this chip is worth watching.
