I was just analyzing this latest innovation ranking and just finished a podcast about it.
Obviously being in Hong Kong I wanted to see what makes this ranking tick. So I deep dived into the actual PDF to do my analysis.
What’s interesting is that the normal corridors, like the Silicon Valley (San Francisco-San Jose) and Boston (Boston-Cambridge) are still there, but in a different way; essentially, those two corridors are some of the most innovative per capita, if you normalize by population.
I generally sense check my data that way; if it doesn’t pass the common sense test, in that one of the most obvious answers isn’t explained, then there’s usually some faulty logic with the data or methodology.
