I just presented to the parents of Malvern College, my kids’ school, on Monday and shared some ideas on what I propose to teach to pupils.

I thought I made a good presentation.

However, it turns out 4 other vendors were trying to teach the same thing, or at least introduce the AI concept in their curriculum.

AI is nice, timely content. It’s buzzy, it’s relevant in the news.

However, I’m not quite sure people have considered how to deal with the subject.

For example, I was having a discussion with my friend Pegor Papazian from Tumo a few months back on what makes for great AI teaching. I did an episode with him on The Down Lo Show once.

The curriculum Tumo has is quite clever. The students have to independently build an AI agent, and in the final stage they have to make the AI agent Frankenstein that combines all the individual characteristics of the AI agents.

So not only do the kids get to do their own tasks and feel agency, but also the teamwork aspect that comes into play to build something in the end.

But the one key thing I’m concerned about is how they deal with the ethical question. That’s the hardest part. And teaching kids how to process what is ethically right or wrong.
