🤯 Make your blurry videos look HD!

Adobe researchers have come up with yet another generative AI wonder called videoGigaGAN!

It can do amazing stuff like turning blurry videos into crystal-clear masterpieces, upscaling them by a whopping eight times their original quality!

And it does this without adding any of that "AI weirdness" like flickering and other unwanted artifacts to your footage.

In case you didn’t know, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), which are effective for upscaling still images to a higher resolution, have struggled with this, but Adobe has come to the rescue!

In fact, what Adobe’s videoGigaGAN generates looks so natural that you'd hardly believe generative AI was involved in the process.

But don’t just take our word for it; check out these mind-blowing examples of the tool at work and judge for yourself.

The only bummer is that it's currently just a research preview, and there is no promise that it will hit the consumer market.

But then, who knows? We might get a surprise release someday!

🤝 Alliance Against Child Abuse Images!

Had enough of seeing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online? Well, so are some of the giants in the tech industry!

Google, Meta, OpenAI, Microsoft, and others have teamed up with the anti-child abuse nonprofit Thorn and All Tech Is Human on a new set of principles to limit the spread of CSAM.

They have pledged to review their AI training data, avoid datasets with a high risk of generating CSAM, and only release models that have been evaluated for child safety.

All this isn't coming out of nowhere, though:

It was recently reported that a popular dataset used to train some AI models contained links to CSAM imagery.

And that the tip line run by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is also struggling to keep up with the increasing volume of reported AI-generated CSAM images.

But hopefully, with these new principles in place, some changes can be made.

Google even says they’re increasing ad grants for NCMEC to promote its initiatives, so fingers crossed.🤞
