Hello and welcome to the Automated, your AI tour guide.

Meta, after quietly watching from the sidelines while Elon Musk battled OpenAI solo, has now stepped onto common ground with him—yes, you read that right!

The tech giant is joining forces with the billionaire to block OpenAI’s transition from a non-profit to a for-profit company.

And while Musk’s arguments have been loud and clear, it turns out Meta has its own reasons for jumping into the fray.

Here’s what we have for you today:

It looks like there’s another drama brewing in Silicon Valley!

Meta (yep, Facebook’s parent company) has decided to back Elon Musk in his quest to block OpenAI's transition from a non-profit to a for-profit entity.

And hey, Meta didn’t just pick sides —they actually went all out.

The company fired off a strongly worded letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, warning that OpenAI’s move could trigger "seismic implications for Silicon Valley."

They urged Bonta to intervene, describing Musk and Shivon Zilis, (another plaintiff in Musk’s lawsuit), as the ideal team to lead this fight for Californians.

So, why is Meta so riled up?

In their view, OpenAI’s new business model is like a cheat code where non-profit investors could score for-profit-sized returns while also benefiting from government tax breaks. (It’s like OpenAI is trying to have their cake, eat it, and receive a refund, too.)

And Musk? He’s no stranger to this fight.

The former OpenAI co-founder turned rival (thanks to his AI startup, xAI) and has long been fully committed to suing OpenAI to prevent the transition.

But OpenAI isn’t sitting quietly.

They hit back by dropping receipts in the form of emails and texts from Musk himself, accusing him of hiding behind lawyers instead of competing in the market. Ouch.

This, folks, is Silicon Valley at its finest: billionaires brawling, lawsuits flying, and just the right amount of corporate shade.

But here's a thought: Is Meta really after the good of all, or is this just another struggle for AI dominance?

So far, neither OpenAI nor California’s Attorney General has commented, but you can bet the next chapter of this saga will land sooner rather than later.

👏 X’s Grok Gets Smarter and Faster!

Despite being entangled in a high-profile lawsuit with OpenAI, Musk’s xAI shows no signs of hitting the brakes.

On Friday night, the company announced the rollout of its enhanced Grok 2 chatbot to all users on X (formerly Twitter).

According to xAI, Grok 2 is three times faster and more accurate, with improved instruction-following and multilingual abilities.

But there’s a catch:

Free users can enjoy up to 10 queries every two hours, while Premium subscribers unlock expanded access. Oh-oh, soory about that😬

Adding to the excitement is the new Grok Button, designed to help users dive deeper into real-time events and trending discussions with contextual insights.

And it’s not just about speed and features—xAI is shaking up its enterprise API offerings too.

The company introduced two updated API models with multilingual capabilities and better efficiency—at a fraction of the cost.

Input tokens now cost $2 per million, and output tokens $10, making Grok more accessible than ever.

And if that isn’t enough, xAI’s Aurora image generator will be coming to the API as well.

With these updates, xAI is positioning itself as a bold contender in the ever-evolving AI landscape.👏😀
