Zuck just dropped his most affordable AI smart glasses ever, and they’re literally just called Meta Glasses. No Ray-Ban logo. No Oakley branding. Just pure, unapologetic tech energy starting at a casual $299.

Meta built these in collaboration with eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica, which is the exact same partner behind their famous Ray-Ban mashups. But this new line marks the first time the tech giant is completely ditching those cool designer names to stand on its own two feet. It’s a wildly bold move, or maybe just extreme confidence. Honestly? It’s probably both.

The best news for our wallets is that the baseline $299 price tag makes these significantly cheaper than last year’s luxury $800 Ray-Ban Display models. Let’s be real: most of us were only window-shopping those anyway!

Oh and, Meta isn't just selling one boring pair of nerd frames either. They dropped a massive collection of 26 total style combinations to choose from:

  • The Designs: The core lineup features the geometric Fury and Adventurer rectangle shapes in sleek colorways like Classic Tortoise and Racing Green.

  • The Starfire Frame: They designed an exclusive, ultra-slim oval collection called Starfire in partnership with celebrity Kylie Jenner. It retails for $399 and features an exclusive custom audio cue!

  • The Brains: These are the first-ever wearables powered by Muse Spark, a highly efficient multimodal AI model fresh out of Meta’s heavily funded Superintelligence Lab.

Now, having a piece of Superintelligence Lab sitting directly on your face while you walk down the street? That’s a flex. But hey, Meta didn’t just make these affordable; they packed them with some serious premium features. Here’s the actual tech breakdown:

  • The Action Button: Just like the older models, you get a sneaky, dedicated action button on the frame. One tap lets you instantly wake up Meta AI or summon your absolute favorite shortcut feature without looking at your phone.

  • The Audio: They feature open-ear speakers that blast your music, podcasts, and phone calls straight into your ears while keeping you aware of your surroundings. Plus, they built in a fancy multi-mic array with wind noise reduction, meaning your friends can actually hear your gossip over the city traffic.

  • You can also snap high-quality photos or record videos completely hands-free just by using voice commands. Perfect for documenting a fit check on the fly.

  • All-Day Energy: Meta is claiming a solid eight hours of battery life on a single charge. But the real savior is the portable charging case, which holds an extra 40 hours of juice. You could literally go on a weekend trip and leave your charging cables at home!

The glasses can also translate languages live, snap 12-megapixel photos hands-free, and look at a restaurant menu with you in real time to summarize the options.

If you’re wondering why Meta is moving this fast, it’s because the wearable tech market is absolutely exploding right now.

Global smart glass shipments hit a staggering 9.6 million units  last year, and Meta comfortably controls about 76% of that entire pie. With total shipments surging by an insane 167% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to last year, the race to lock down our eyeballs is officially cutthroat. For example:

  • Google and Samsung are actively teaming up to release their own joint AI glasses later this year.

  • OpenAI is secretly cooking up some top-secret hardware product behind closed doors.

  • Snap literally just launched its own high-tech augmented reality Spectacles last week.

But here’s the hilarious kicker: Snap priced its bulky AR glasses at a spicy $2,195 and focused entirely on projecting digital holograms into the room. Meta looked at that heavy price tag, slapped down a sleek, $299 fashion frame with built-in artificial intelligence, and said: Hold our iced coffee.

While everyone else is busy drafting up concepts and charging thousands for prototypes, Meta is the only one actually selling stylish, accessible tech to regular people on Main Street.

So what's the vibe? Are you splurging on the $399 Kylie Jenner oval frames, or are you keeping AI far away from your face?
