🫢 Meta’s AI App Is Accidentally Exposing People

Guess what?!

People are accidentally leaking their private convos on Meta’s new AI app — and it’s lowkey a privacy disaster wrapped in chaos.

You’d think this was the plot of a digital-age horror movie… but nope, it’s real life.

Meta’s new stand-alone AI app has a “Share” button that lets you post your convos. Problem is, a lot of users don’t seem to realize those posts are public. Like, fully visible to anyone casually scrolling the app.

And the stuff people are sharing? Wild. We’re talking:

  • Personal legal questions, full names, and sensitive court details

  • Home addresses, family drama, and even confessions that sound… mildly criminal

  • People asking about tax evasion, medical issues, and things they probably shouldn’t be Googling, let alone sharing

  • An actual voice note of a man asking, “Hey Meta, why do some farts stink more than others?”

  • And of course… trolling. One dude shared his résumé asking for a cybersecurity job. Another asked how to make a bong out of a water bottle.

Oh, and someone literally searched for how to meet “big booty women” — yes, really. Others want to know if their relatives could get arrested for proximity to white-collar crimes.

But here’s the kicker:

The app doesn’t clearly show what’s public or private.

It also doesn’t explain that logging in with a public Instagram account means your AI chats could also be public. So people are out here sharing the most personal stuff, without realizing it’s being broadcast to the world.

Meta didn’t exactly help themselves either.

There’s:

  • No clear privacy warning

  • No visible explanation of where your posts are going

  • And honestly? No logical reason this “share” feature even exists

It’s giving flashbacks to the 2006 AOL search leak — but somehow dumber, because Meta has billions of dollars, thousands of engineers, and still greenlit this mess.

To top it all off, the app has only been downloaded 6.5 million times since April 29. That might be impressive for a scrappy indie dev… but this is Meta — the same Meta that’s been pouring billions into AI. So yeah, not exactly a Win.

Bottom line?

Meta may have built a sleek new AI app, but they forgot one tiny detail: Most people don’t want their weird, messy, late-night AI chats made public.

And if the goal was to get attention? Mission accomplished — just not the kind they were hoping for.

Here’s where to find the full details.

👀Windows Just Got a Pair of AI Eyes

So Microsoft just gave Copilot a serious glow-up — and it lowkey feels like you’ve got an AI bestie watching your screen and whispering tips in your ear.

It’s called Copilot Vision, and the idea is simple:

You're using an app like Photoshop or scrolling through a website, and instead of Googling “how do I even do this??”, Copilot can actually see what you’re doing and help you in real time.

Like...

  • “Hey, wanna blur that background in Photoshop? Click this, not that.”

  • “This webpage? Here’s the summary. And Here’s what matters.”

And yep — that’s not all. You can also:

  • Share a specific app or browser window with Copilot — not your whole screen, so no need to panic.

  • Once shared, Copilot analyzes what you’re looking at and talks you through it.

  • It’ll highlight stuff, explain things, answer questions, and help you stop staring blankly at your screen like 🫠.

To activate it? Just look for the little glasses icon inside the Copilot app. Click it, pick the app or window you want to share, and boom —you’re good to go.

And here’s what’s important:

It’s totally opt-in. Unlike that Recall feature that silently screenshots your digital life by default, Copilot Vision only sees what you explicitly choose to share.

Bonus points: It’s free — yep, no Copilot Pro required. It works on both Windows 10 and 11 (US only for now), and is also available on iOS and Android (mobile) if you want AI guidance on the go.

It’s still part of Microsoft’s Copilot Labs — so it’s experimental, but fully functional enough to start playing with.

And just so you know, while it's now publicly rolling out in the US, some early testers got a sneak peek during Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event in April.

Their verdict? Pretty solid.

Once you share an app, Copilot really starts highlighting key areas, offering context-specific help, guiding, and explaining things in a surprisingly natural (not robotic) way.

Basically, this is Microsoft saying: “Let us give your screen superpowers.

Now, is Copilot Vision perfect? Not yet.

But it’s already shaping up to be a game-changer — especially if you’re tired of switching between a million tabs just to figure one thing out.

Wanna try it? Just update your Copilot app, tap the glasses icon, and let it take a look 👓
