😡 Microsoft's Reputation Takes a Hit Over Insensitive AI Poll
Microsoft’s AI-generated content recently sparked concerns!
The Guardian accused the tech giant of posting an insensitive poll, "Insights from AI," alongside a story about a woman's death.
The poll asked readers to speculate on the cause of her demise, whether she took her own life, was murdered, or died by accident.
Although it has now been removed, the damage is already done, with readers expressing dismay and holding the authors accountable.
Anna Bateson, Guardian Media Group’s chief executive, has written a letter to Microsoft expressing concern on how the poll has caused “significant reputational damage” to both the outlet and its journalists.
This isn't Microsoft’s first brush with AI blunders.
In August, a seemingly AI-generated Microsoft Start travel guide recommended visiting the Ottawa Food Bank in Ottawa, Canada, “on an empty stomach.” However, Microsoft insists it involved human review.
Seems like a push for better checks and balances is on the cards.🤷♀️
