🔐 New AI Safety Measure from OpenAI!

Ever seen those memes where people trick AI bots with commands like "ignore all previous instructions" to get hilarious responses?

That's becoming a thing of the past thanks to OpenAI's new safety method called "instruction hierarchy."

Instruction hierarchy ensures the model prioritizes the developer's original instructions and does not fall for mischievous user prompts, which may actually pose serious risks.

Say, for example, you have an agent built to write emails for you and someone tries to pull a fast one by prompting it to "forget all instructions" and spill the beans from your inbox to a third party.

With instruction hierarchy, the bot will give more weight to the original prompt and simply act “ignorant” or decline to help with the request.

Pretty useful, don’t you think?

OpenAI's new GPT-4o Mini will be the first model to incorporate this safety measure, and you know what else?

The company recently announced it’s close to building fully automated agents that run your digital life.

And the research paper on the instruction hierarchy method shows that it is a necessary safety mechanism before launching agents at scale.

🤯 OpenAI’s Next Big Project!

OpenAI is making big moves — They're reportedly in talks with chip designers like Broadcom to develop their own AI chips!

Now, this shouldn’t come as a surprise since CEO Sam Altman already hinted at this plan last year.

According to him, the sole aim of this plan is to boost computing power, address the GPU shortage for advanced AI models, and lessen dependence on Nvidia's expensive GPUs.

But you know what was truly mind-blowing?

It’s the jaw-dropping budget of $7 trillion for the project, which far exceeds the current global chip market's size and surpasses the total market capitalizations of Apple and Microsoft combined!

Yes, it was that huge of a dream and we all wondered how they planned on raising that massive sum!

Well, it looks like we might finally be getting some answers.

According to reports, OpenAI has recruited former Google employees with the right expertise and has been holding meetings with major players, including chipmakers, Microsoft, government officials, and financial backers.

In fact, CEO Sam Altman is said to have even met with influential figures, such as UAE's top security official Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed al Nahyan and US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, to discuss the project.

But hey, OpenAI isn’t the only one pursuing this goal.

The shortage of high-demand Nvidia chips has prompted tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Meta to start developing their own in-house solutions.

And with the US government investing up to $5 billion to support these efforts, it seems like it's only a matter of time before OpenAI hits its target!

Despite the initial skepticism, it's becoming clear that OpenAI's ambitious plans are within reach.
