🤔 Can DeepMind’s Gemini Outshine OpenAI's ChatGPT?
DeepMind (a Google-owned research lab) claims its next chatbot will rival (or even best) OpenAI's ChatGPT.
According to a piece in Wired, if all goes well, Gemini will have the ability to plan or solve problems as well as analyze text.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! 😲
The chatbot will leverage innovations in reinforcement learning to accomplish tasks with which today’s language models struggle.
It’s worth noting that Gemini isn't DeepMind's first rodeo in the language model world.
Last year the company introduced Sparrow, a chatbot that the lab claimed was less likely than other language models to give “unsafe” or “inappropriate” answers to questions.
Gemini is, however, DeepMind’s most ambitious work in the space so far, assuming of course, that all goes as planned.
The race for dominance in the generative AI space is one to keep an eye on.🕵️
Will Gemini take the crown, or will ChatGPT hold its ground? 🤷
⚖️ House of Reps Implements Strict Rules for ChatGPT Usage.
The House of Representatives has implemented strict rules for the use of ChatGPT in congressional offices.
According to a Monday memo, the new rules state that:
Only the paid version of the chatbot, ChatGPT Plus, is authorized for use due to its enhanced privacy features.
The chatbot is to be used for research and evaluation purposes only.
Privacy settings must be enabled.
And guess what? The House of Reps isn’t the only one being cautious.
Private companies like Samsung and Apple have also restricted or banned their employees from using generative AI tools like ChatGPT, citing fears that confidential data might leak through the tools.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has called for the quick passage of legislation to regulate the artificial intelligence industry.
🤯 AI- Powered SnapCalorie Estimates Meal Calories!
SnapCalorie, (a health-focused startup) is utilizing AI to estimate a meal's calorie count and macronutrient breakdown from a single photo taken with a smartphone.
Yes, you heard that right! 😃
In the words of SnapCalorie’s Co-founder, Wade Norris:
Humans are terrible at visually estimating the portion size of a plate of food, “SnapCalorie improves on the status quo by combining a variety of new technologies and algorithms.
In addition to calorie estimation, SnapCalorie offers ChatGPT-powered chatbot that provides meal suggestions based on user goals and past preferences as well as a database of nutritional values.
Now, we know you might be thinking, "Hey, aren't those AI-based calorie-counting apps notoriously inaccurate?" Well, you're not wrong.
In fact, One 2020 study comparing some of the more popular AI-based calorie counters found that the most accurate — Calorie Mama — was only right about 63% of the time.
But SnapCalorie is ready to defy the odds! 🎯🤞
Norris assures that “On average, the team is able to reduce the caloric error to under 20%”.
That’s a bold claim! 😳
