⚖️ New York Times Wants to Sue AI Companies

It's no secret that AI models are frequently trained on copyrighted data, but previous attempts by authors to legally challenge AI companies have mostly failed.

However, there's a potential new lawsuit that could make a significant impact, possibly resulting in billions of dollars in damages.

It would be led by prominent figures such as Barry Diller, The New York Times, Axel Springer, and other key publishers.

In an interview with Semafor, Barry Diller provided insights into the motivations behind this push to sue AI companies.

💃 Bing Chat Expands to Chrome and Safari!

Microsoft’s Bing Chat is now available in Google Chrome and Safari!

The chatbot was only available on Edge, but now, Microsoft is testing using Bing Chat on both browsers with “select” users.

Once standard testing procedures are complete, access will be expanded to more users.

However, there are some limitations to consider:

  • The word limit for prompts is reduced to 2,000 words from the 4,000-word limit available on Edge.

  • Conversations with the chatbot will reset after only five turns instead of 30.

  • Users may encounter annoying pop-ups prompting them to download Edge.

Microsoft has also introduced dark mode for Bing Chat, but the rollout seems gradual.

Not everyone has it just yet. Some lucky users get to experience it, while others are left in the bright, glaring light of day. 😀

You can switch to dark mode by selecting the hamburger menu in Bing Chat's top-right corner, then hitting Appearance > Dark or System Default.
