OpenAI is finally making its much-anticipated debut in the search market with “SearchGPT,” an AI-powered search engine that could give Googe and Perplexity a run for their money!

👏 OpenAI Enters the Search Market with SearchGPT!
OpenAI is launching its own AI-powered search engine called SearchGPT!
When you use SearchGPT, it starts with a large textbox that asks, "What are you looking for?"
But instead of just giving you a plain list of links, SearchGPT organizes the results and makes sense of them for you!
For example, when you search for "music festivals in Boone, NC," in August 2024, you'll get brief event descriptions, followed by attribution links.
And once the results appear, you can ask follow-up questions or click the sidebar to explore other relevant links.
But that’s not all!
There’s also a feature called “visual answers,” but little is known about it yet. However, it seems that it can showcase AI-generated videos and images.
Sounds pretty cool, right? Google and Perplexity (the self-acclaimed AI “answer” engine) better watch out; there’s new competition in town.
And it seems the competition learned from their mistakes!
Perplexity recently faced backlash for its AI summaries feature, which publishers claimed was directly ripping off their work.
But SearchGPT will avoid that, as it was developed in collaboration with major news outlets, like The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, and Vox Media.
It also gives publishers control over how their content appears in OpenAI search features and allows them to opt out of having their content used to train OpenAI's models while still being surfaced in the search results.
But here’s an even cleverer thing: SearchGPT will be released as a prototype!
This way, if there are any hiccups with the results — like when Google rolled out AI Overviews and told us to put glue on our pizza — it's easier to brush them off as part of the testing phase.
Also, it will only be accessible to 10,000 test users at launch, so the rest of us will have to wait a bit before getting our hands on it.

💃 Google Enhances Gemini AI with a Major Upgrade!
We have exciting news for anyone who's been using Google's Gemini AI chatbot — it's just gotten a major upgrade to version 1.5 Flash!
So, what does this mean for you?
For starters, Gemini's going to be faster, smarter, and more accurate. You'll get quicker responses, better image understanding, and improved reasoning skills.
And with the ability to process a whopping 32K tokens of text at once (which is four times more than before!), you can ask it even more complex questions!
But wait, there's more!
Google's also adding some awesome new features to make Gemini even more useful.
Need to fact-check something? Now, you'll see links to related content pop up when you ask factual questions.
And, if you're in the European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland, you'll soon be able to access Gemini right from Google Messages.
Oh, and teens can now use Gemini in over 40 languages - how cool is that?
