Exciting developments are brewing at Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI!

Over the weekend, a buzz spread across social media as several users on X reported getting their hands on Grok 3, the highly anticipated successor to Grok 2.

This new AI model is starting to stir, with reverse engineer Alexey Shabanov among those who managed early access through the Grok chatbot app.

Users experienced Grok 3’s capabilities firsthand, testing it out with various challenges—from logical puzzles to intricate coding tasks.

While Grok 3 showed impressive skills, it stumbled a bit, missing some details and making a programming error here and there.

Shabanov revealed that he managed to get Grok 3 to expose its system prompt—the instructions that shape the model's behavior.

Interestingly, the prompt explicitly identifies Donald Trump as the 47th president of the U.S., suggesting it might be a hardcoded tweak to address Grok’s political missteps.

Despite previous ambitious timelines, Grok 3’s launch has been delayed, but Musk remains optimistic.

He recently mentioned that Grok 3 is expected to roll out in January or early February after completing pre-training, a pivotal phase in its development.

The model has been trained on an astounding amount of data, utilizing around 100,000 GPUs at xAI’s data center in Memphis.
