For context, in May, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced the new GPT 4o model, which was already “much faster” than the GPT-4.

GPT4o is tagged “the future of interaction between humans and machines " because it improves on its [GPT 4] capabilities, such as text, vision, and audio.

Not just that, it is also 2x faster, 50 percent cheaper, and has 5x higher rate limits compared to GPT 4 Turbo.

Tadao Nagasaki, CEO of OpenAI Japan, shared this exciting news at the KDDI Summit 2024.

And according to him, GPT-Next is expected to use a smaller version of OpenAI’s secret Project Strawberry, rumored to be OpenAI’s push to develop artificial general intelligence.

Additionally, the GPT-Next is said to have enhanced performance, and that boost in performance comes from better architecture, not a ton of computing resources.

And guess what? Even bigger improvements are expected with Orion and GPT-5 Strawberry!

❌ Tech Giants Combat AI-Generated Revenge Porn!

Once something hits the internet, good luck getting it down—sometimes that’s a plus, but when it comes to synthetic nudes made with AI, it’s a whole different story —one that can be devastating for anyone involved.

That’s why Microsoft is stepping up to help victims of revenge porn.

They’ve teamed up with StopNCII, a fantastic organization dedicated to scrubbing explicit images from the web.

Hard to believe there’s such a platform, right? Well, there is, and here’s how they’re going to pull it off:

A digital fingerprint (or “hash”) of the image is created, which StopNCII and their partners use like a digital "wanted" notice to stop the image from spreading through the Internet.

Pretty smart, right?

Microsoft’s Bing isn’t fighting this battle alone—big players like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Pornhub, and OnlyFans are also on board with StopNCII to curb the spread of this revenge porn.

And guess what? It works like magic!

In a trial run, Microsoft used StopNCII’s database to block over 268,000 explicit images from Bing alone.

But, surprisingly, Google hasn’t joined the program yet, despite growing criticism and the worsening problem.

To make matters even more complicated, there’s no federal law in the U.S. against AI-generated deepfake porn, so individual states are left to handle it on their own.

Some have passed laws, while others have turned down proposals.

Let’s hope more companies, platforms, and lawmakers take action to stop the spread of explicit content and make the internet safer for everyone.🤞
