👏 OpenAI’s New Solution For Creators!
OpenAI is rolling out a new tool called “Media Manager,” which it says will give content creators/owners more control over how their content is used to train generative AI models.
Creators can use it to identify their works to OpenAI and specify which ones should (or shouldn't) be used in AI research and training.
And the works here include text, images, audio, and video across multiple sources!
But before we get our hopes up, let’s remember that OpenAI previously offered a way for creators to opt out of AI training data used for DALL-E 3, and it didn't pan out as expected.
And they once argued that creating effective AI models without copyrighted material is nearly impossible.
But hey, let's not rain on their parade just yet; This time might be different!🤞
OpenAI plans to have the tool in place by 2025, so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime, you can learn more about it straight from OpenAI’s blogpost here!
🔒 Google Launches a Cybersecurity Product!
Google is taking AI beyond just generating fake photos with its latest product that targets cybersecurity!
It’s called “Google Threat Intelligence,” and it combines the work of Microsoft’s Mandiant cybersecurity unit, VirusTotal threat intelligence, and the Gemini AI model to do some pretty amazing things.
For starters, you could use it to reduce the time needed to reverse engineer malware attacks drastically.
Google even claims that the Gemini 1.5 Pro model took only 34 seconds to analyze the code of the WannaCry virus and identify a kill switch.
That’s the 2017 ransomware attack that caused chaos in hospitals, companies, and other organizations around the world, in case you didn't know. (Learn more here)
But it's not just about decoding attacks; Threat Intelligence also has a vast network of information to monitor potential threats before they occur.
And Gemini could also be used to summarize threat reports into natural language so you know how potential attacks may impact you and avoid making any hasty decisions.
Pretty impressive, right? The only downer is that we can't tell just yet how effective AI will be in taking on the bad guys in cyberspace.
But still, it’s nice to see it being put to good use!
