💃 Sam Altman Returns as OpenAI’s CEO

Sam Altman is set to return as the CEO of OpenAI, along with former president Greg Brockman who had resigned in protest of Altman's firing.

Their return effectively puts an end to an attempted boardroom coup which triggered a series of chaotic events over the past several days.

The company's statement reveals an "agreement in principle" for their return and introduces a new board consisting of Bret Taylor, Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo, whose primary job is to vet and appoint an expanded board of up to nine people that will reset the governance of OpenAI.

Microsoft, which has committed to investing billions in the company, wants to have a seat on that expanded board, as does Altman himself. But in the meantime, both sides involved have agreed to an investigation by an outside independent law firm.

Altman has expressed dedication to the OpenAI team and of course, his return has been welcomed by key players.

Thrive Capital, one of OpenAI’s big investors, sees it as “the best outcome for the company, its employees, those who build on their technologies, and the world at large.”

Interim CEO Emmett Shear who was appointed on Sunday by the board to replace the previous interim CEO, Mira Murati stated that he was deeply pleased by this result.

While Helen Toner, who was a key board member in the initial move to oust Altman, simply said, “And now, we all get some sleep.”

🤔 Bard's Latest Upgrade: A Double-Edged Sword for YouTube Creators.

Google's AI chatbot, Bard, just got even handier with its upgraded YouTube integration!

Now, it can analyze videos, extracting key points like ingredients and instructions without having to hit the play button – a time-saving tool for quick info retrieval.

In a test run with America's Test Kitchen's Espresso Martini recipe, Bard aced it, providing accurate ingredients, measurements, and instructions. A real game-changer.

But here's the twist:

it may challenge content creators. Sharing recipes outside YouTube could impact creators' usual viewer journey and their revenue from ads or paywalled content.

Why watch the entire video if you can get to the point faster without paying and having to endure ads?

Plus it requires specific prompts for optimal results and may primarily benefit Google. If integrated into YouTube, creators might see their content used to train the bot.

Currently, this feature is in the Labs phase, as there are still some kinks to work out. But envision the impact of this feature becoming a standard YouTube feature.

How will it be received by creators? Will they welcome it? Guess we’ll have to wait and see the outcome so stay tuned!
