Welcome to This Week’s Edition of the Lo Down!

This week, we did a lot on the Automated front as well as furthering the study of education.

Let’s dive in. 🚀

🎈 Our updated Automated design and brand and its relevance to Apple’s Liquid Glass

Finally - our new website at theautomated.co!

isn’t this so much cleaner

We’ve had access to the Beehiiv new site editor thanks to our friends at EVWire.com for about a week now. And thanks to them we were able to tweak our site and settle on a design and structure that we were comfortable with.

We started off with inspiration from EVWire.com, which was proper since they were already on the Beehiiv platform and could give us a design framework and tips on how to achieve that similar look.

Once I largely replicated that design, I started looking at Monocle for some specific design choices. In particular, their color decisions, font choices, and the hierarchy of fonts and text. This helped us drill our site to be a lot more put together.

For example, the font choices for the section headings are the same throughout the entire site. So are the article descriptions, as well as the consistency amongst the description which includes the reading time.

Design also includes knowing what NOT to include. We did not include images of our articles, because frankly, our images stink. We usually use the same image over and over, and they do not look good.

Some of the small details that we kept are the color consistency in the navigation bar, the main page, and the footer. We kept the brown tones towards the top, the aqua on the bottom, and added elements of brown borders and dividers all around, which is similar to what we have in our emails as well.

This is similar to Apple’s Liquid glass. In a way.
