Welcome Automaters!
So apparently, the future of AI might just… slip onto your finger. At least, that’s what two ex-Meta engineers are betting on.
But here’s what everyone’s wondering — can AI hardware actually stick this time?
We’re unpacking the vision, the hype, and the hard truth behind this new era of AI wearables — and what it could mean for how we’ll talk to our machines in the years ahead.
Here's what we have for you today
💍 Inside Stream: The $13M Smart Ring Built by Ex-Meta Engineers to Redefine AI Wearables

Okay, quick check-in — are we living in the golden age of AI gadgets or just the golden age of AI gadget demos?
Because every other month, there’s a new device promising to “reimagine how humans talk to machines.”
We’ve had AI pins, AI pendants, AI cards, AI bracelets — and now, we’ve got AI rings.
And not just any ring — this one’s called Stream, made by two former Meta engineers who think the future of AI might literally fit on your finger.
Let’s zoom out for a sec.
A whole raft of voice-first devices has hit the scene — we’ve seen gadgets from Plaud, Pocket, Friend, Limitless, Taya, and even Bee (now part of Amazon) — all trying to make “talking to AI” feel as natural as thinking out loud.
But the founders of Sandbar, Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong, are taking it one step further. Their new ring, Stream, isn’t just another wearable mic. They’re calling it “a mouse for voice.” You press, whisper, think out loud — and it quietly turns your thoughts into notes, tasks, or even full-on conversations with an AI assistant.
And these aren’t random founders — these are interface people.
Fahmi worked at Kernel and Magic Leap, designing how humans and machines talk.
Hong worked at Google and CTRL-Labs, the neuro-interface startup Meta bought back in 2019.
So yeah — these two basically helped build the early DNA of Meta’s wearable tech.
Their whole career arc screams: “We’ve been thinking about this moment for years.”
When large language models like GPT started taking off, Fahmi realized typing ideas into an app felt clunky. So instead of building another journaling app, he decided to build the hardware that would make journaling invisible.
Here’s the cool part — Stream’s mic only turns on when you press and hold the touchpad.
You can literally whisper into it, and it transcribes your thoughts in real time through its companion iOS app.
It even comes with an AI that chats back and helps organize your notes. Think of it like having a pocket-sized collaborator who’s always listening — but only when you say so.
Oh, and it also doubles as a media controller — play, pause, skip, adjust volume — all from your finger. Handy when you’re cooking, commuting, or just too lazy to dig your phone out.
And yes, the data is encrypted, exportable, and user-controlled. Sandbar’s pitching this as the opposite of a walled garden — they even let you export notes to Notion.
And get this: they’ve raised $13 million from True Ventures, Upfront, and Betaworks.
Even Toni Schneider from True Ventures — who admits was skeptical about AI gadgets — said the demo finally “made sense.”
And honestly? That might be the best endorsement an AI startup can get right now.
Because the truth is: this market is ruthless.
Humane got snapped up by HP. Rabbit’s still trying to patch its way to a comeback. And everyone else? They’re fighting for a reason to exist.
Sandbar’s bet is simple but bold — you don’t need another companion; you need an interface. Something that lets ideas flow, not just another device to talk to.
The company opened up preorders for Stream this Wednesday at $249 for the silver version and $299 for gold.
Shipping starts next summer.
They’re also rolling out a Pro subscription tier — free for three months for early birds, then $10/month — unlocking unlimited chats, notes, and early access to new features
Will Stream nail it? Hard to say.
But if they do pull this off, we might be watching the birth of a new category — not just AI assistants, but AI instruments.
And that’s a future I can get behind.

🤯 AI Video Craze: OpenAI’s Sora App Becomes a Global Hit Overnight

Guys we’ve just hit peak “AI video madness.”
On one side, OpenAI’s Sora dropped on Android and immediately blew up — almost half a million installs in 24 hours.
On the other, Meta decided it was time to unleash its AI TikTok clone, called Vibes, across Europe.
Let’s start with the good vibes — and I mean that ironically — because Sora’s rollout was a straight-up rocket.
The app stormed the Play Store charts in less than a day, and users are already calling it the easiest way yet to make stunning AI videos.
And honestly? We get the hype. You type a prompt — and boom, instant mini-movie.
Users are already generating music-video-style clips, sci-fi trailers, and meme edits — remixing existing assets, poking at boundaries, and seeing how far the tool can go.
It honestly feels like early-days TikTok meets Pixar on caffeine.
You should really check it out for yourself — but fair warning:
Once you start generating, you might lose your entire afternoon. (In the best way possible.) 😅

🤖 Google Gems Spotlight: Build Your Own Gem (Yes, Your Own!)
Okay, squad — weekend mission time.
You’ve used Gemini, right? Well cool. But here’s the thing: using a general chatbot is great… until you realize how much better it gets when it’s built just for you.
A general-purpose AI is like a jack-of-all-trades — but to get great results, you’ve gotta explain your preferences, context, and vibe every single time.
So this weekend, your mission is simple: build your own Gem.
💡 Why Build Your Own Gem?
It saves massive time: No more 10-sentence setup prompts. Just open your Gem and boom — it’s already in character, ready to write like it knows your workflow personally.
It becomes your personal expert: Upload your files — brand guides, tone rules, docs — and they become part of your Gem’s brain.
It keeps you consistent: Whether you’re writing product descriptions or blog outlines, it’ll follow your structure, tone, and formatting every single time.
It’s hyper-personalized (and a flex): You’re not just using AI anymore — you’re creating it.
⚙️ Here’s how to build yours:
Step 1: Open Gemini.
Step 2: Click the shiny little Gems icon on the sidebar (yep, the diamond 💎).
Step 3: Hit the plus (+) sign to create a new Gem
Step 4: Name it something fun — “Social Media Sassbot,” “Idea Factory,” whatever fits the vibe.
Step 5: Add custom instructions — this is where the magic happens. Tell it how to act, what tone to use, what tasks to prioritize, and what tools to pull in (like web browsing or code interpreter).
Step 6 (Optional): Upload files under Knowledge so the system can always reference them and actually know your stuff.
Step 7: Hit save, test and boom — you’ve got your own mini AI that works your way.
Quick Example: Let’s make something practical — a Gem that turns one blog post into tweets, LinkedIn posts, and newsletter blurbs.
⚡ Prompts to try:
“You’re The Content Recycler — a creative, fast marketing assistant who repurposes content for different platforms. You’re supportive, clever, and laser-focused. You ask smart questions to clarify intent, suggest improvements, and offer punchy rewrites when needed.”
“Always keep responses conversational, confident, and engaging — like a creative coach who gets the internet.”
That’s it. Whether it’s a Content Brainstormer, Email Polisher, or Productivity Coach, your perfect Gem is just a few prompts away.
Oh, and before you dip — we’re running a giveaway 🎁
Everyone gets the video tutorial so you can watch it all go down in real time (because seeing it is half the magic). Plus, you’ll finally get a peek at what you’ve been missing on the Premium tier.
