OpenAI faces yet another problem!

Users report that ChatGPT has become a bit "lazy," refusing certain prompts or offering users instructions on how to complete the tasks by themselves.

For example, when startup founder Matthew Wensing asked GPT-4 to generate a list of upcoming calendar dates earlier this week, it suggested that he try using a different tool to find the answer.

And in another case, Wensing asked the chatbot to produce roughly 50 lines of code. It responded with a few examples, which it said Wensing could use as a template to complete the work without the help of AI.

While it's unclear how widespread this issue is or why it’s happening, two OpenAI employees have publicly attributed it to a known bug, but there may be more at play.

Running ChatGPT can be pretty expensive to operate, estimated at $700,000 per day. It can sometimes cause system strain and even a temporary halt in new ChatGPT Plus subscriptions.

Interestingly, it seems that the less active the chatbot is, the more money OpenAI can save and the less strain there is on its systems. This makes us wonder if it's a glitch or a cost-saving measure.
