Welcome Automaters, 👋
Take a seat, because the latest drama out of Silicon Valley is almost too wild to believe.
Tech titans are currently trying to convince us that raising our children and managing our friendships are just "inefficient tasks" that should be handed off to an algorithm. Yes, really.
Exhibit A: Marissa Mayer’s Birthday Presentation Fiasco
Former Yahoo CEO and early Google engineer Marissa Mayer is catching serious criticism over her new app, Dazzle, an AI assistant that analyzes your camera roll.
During an interview, Mayer flexed a supposedly impressive feature: the app generated three bullet points describing her 10-year-old daughter for a school birthday slide: "empathetic, creative, and an animal lover."
Naturally, the internet lost its mind. Progressive activist Leah Greenberg summed up the collective outrage perfectly, noting that Mayer voluntarily sharing this story proves "how deeply the culture of Silicon Valley has diverged from the rest of humanity."
The Backlash Defense: Mayer jumped on X to clarify that she was merely testing her prototype, which resurfaced forgotten project photos like a "snake devenomer" to illustrate her child's traits.
The Real Issue: In the very same interview, Mayer casually suggested using AI to remove the "mental load" of picking birthday themes, planning playdates, and organizing family vacations. She even pitched having her AI assistant coordinate schedules with her husband’s AI assistant.
The Kicker: When asked if a frictionless future planned entirely by AI sounds depressing, Mayer replied: "I haven’t really thought that through."
Mayer isn't the only billionaire trying to automate parenthood. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been banging this drum for a while.
On National TV Altman told Jimmy Fallon, "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."
On Social Media: He pitched a "cool use case" where ChatGPT Work generates a custom podcast explaining your kids' interests and upcoming soccer games.
The Internet's Response: A brutal, unanimous ratio with comments asking the obvious question: "What if you just talked to your children?"
While Mayer and Altman focus on parenting, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants AI to fulfill your social life.
Zuckerberg recently pointed out that the average American has fewer than three close friends, despite wanting around 15. His fix? Normalize AI therapists, AI romantic partners, and hyper-realistic VR avatars.
Instead of designing platforms that foster actual human connection, Meta seems determined to make us comfortable bonding with digital approximations of people.
According to a Pew Research Center study, 50% of U.S. adults believe AI will reduce our ability to form meaningful relationships, while a tiny 5% think it will help.
Our Take: Human connections are messy, unpredictable, and exhausting: yet that exact messiness is what gives life meaning. When we delegate those moments to microchips, we surrender the very essence of being human.
So yeah, once in a while, get away from the bots and go talk to real people!
Oh, and here’s the full report. Trust me you're going to want to read this to see exactly where all these are going to and what the consequences could be.

💼 How Anthropic Is Beating OpenAI in Enterprise AI Adoption

Alright, we need to talk about the sheer financial flex Anthropic just pulled off with its investors this week.
If you thought the AI wars were just loud model drops on X, think again. The numbers behind Claude Code prove it isn’t just popular; it’s an absolute cash machine.
Anthropic officially recorded an operating profit in Q2, backed by an insane 900% net revenue retention. To put that in plain English: existing enterprise customers didn't just stay, they spent nine times more in Q3 2026 than they did in Q3 2025!
Here’s the dirty little secret in Tech Land: while venture-backed startups are blowing through tokens like candy, most Fortune 500 companies are sitting there asking, "Okay, but what are we actually getting out of this AI investment?"
Then comes Anthropic’s latest power move. On Wednesday, they rolled out a new reporting toolkit built to show corporate bosses the exact return on investment (ROI) for every single token spent.
Here’s what managers can now track in one place:
Team Output & Costs: Exactly what your engineers produced over a specific date range and what it cost the company.
Workflow Breakdowns: Pinpoint precision on where your team’s automated processes stalled or failed.
Tailored Recommendations: Direct tips on how to fix those broken workflows and boost efficiency.
Pooled Budgets: Group token allowances so teams stop accidentally blowing past spending limits.
(And before you ask: yes, Anthropic explicitly stated they will not use this internal corporate data to train models by default).
Now, if you think this is just marketing spin, the external data tells the exact same story.
Software engineering platform Jellyfish just dropped a massive report analyzing agentic coding tool usage across 276,000 developers. The takeaway? Claude Code and Anthropic-powered tools are utterly dominating the room.
Market Share: Anthropic models account for nearly a third of all proposed code changes submitted for review.
Budget Takeover: Enterprise spending on these tools exploded 10x since the start of the year.
The Bottom Line: AI coding tools now eat up roughly 2% of total engineering budgets.
Why Nobody Is Leaving (Despite OpenAI’s Best Efforts)
If you spend five minutes on tech Twitter, you’d swear OpenAI’s latest Astra model was eating Anthropic’s lunch. Everyone in Silicon Valley loves to hype the newest shiny object, claiming the competition is getting fierce.
So, why aren't enterprises switching?
Because hype doesn't outweigh enterprise inertia. Anthropic got in early, built solid corporate relationships, and created tools that simply work. Once a company builds its entire standard operating procedure around a platform, untangling that web is a nightmare.
Switching isn't like an individual developer swapping browser tabs. Enterprise contracts are sticky.
Major AI labs are already throwing heavy resources into Forward-Deployed Engineering (FDE) teams, basically embedding in-house AI consultants directly into corporate clients to get them hooked. These new reporting tools from Anthropic act like an "FDE-lite," giving companies continuous, hands-on guidance without needing a human consultant in the room.
As Nikolas Albarran, AI Product Lead at Jellyfish, perfectly summarized: once an organization puts in the effort to configure every subtle quirk, custom file structure, and agent workflow, the friction to switch becomes way too high.
In short? Anthropic set up camp in the enterprise, locked the door, and made itself indispensable. Oh and if you use Claude in your business, Anthropic has also given you an easy way to track if the money you shell out is worth it, big flex right??
