👎 X's New AI Feature Disappoints!

So, you know how Elon Musk's xAI is always testing new AI features on X?
Well, they just launched a new one called "More About This Account" that's supposed to give you (that’s if you’re a paid user) the lowdown on any user's account you either search for or hover on.
It sounds cool, right? But the results are pretty meh; Sometimes, it gets it right, but other times it's just plain wrong!
For example, it thought one guy was a Canada expert just because of his name and mistook a startup executive for a famous cricketer!

And don't even get me started on the generic info it spits out.
In fact, when Grok isn’t getting the information wrong, it doesn’t add anything particularly useful beyond what you can easily learn from the account and bio.
In their defense though, they did warn us about Grok possibly getting things wrong, but come on! Shouldn't it be way better than this?
Especially with its full and uninterrupted access to all of X's data, Grok should be able to give us correct, reliable and more insightful information, don't you think?
This right here reminds us of why we shouldn’t ever completely rely on AI.

⚖️ Big Names Under FTC Investigation for AI Pricing!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating eight major companies, including Mastercard, JPMorgan Chase, McKinsey & Co, Accenture, Bloomreach, and others!
Why? Their use of customer data and AI for “surveillance pricing.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it's a practice that allows companies to show different prices to consumers for the same stuff based on things like where you live, what you buy, browse, and even your credit history.
And get this: Many of the companies involved in this are no small fries!
They provide transaction, sales, and pricing services to some of the largest firms in the U.S. and around the world.
Task, for example, manages transactions for bigwig hospitality brands like McDonald’s and Starbucks, while Revionics provides pricing software and analytics to global chains like Home Depot.
Then there's Pros, the self-acclaimed provider of AI-powered pricing solutions, that has clients like Nestlé, HP, and United Airlines and is also a tech development partner of Microsoft.
But dont worry; the FTC isn't messing around!
They've already slapped these companies with orders, aiming to uncover how this pricing practice affects privacy, competition, and consumer rights.
And as FTC Chair Lina Khan puts it "Americans deserve to know if businesses are using detailed consumer data to charge higher prices."
Yeah, wouldn't you like to know?
